Dumpster Rental Cost in Norton, MA: What Drives It

We do not publish a price list, because the job decides the number. What we can show you is what goes into that number and what moves it, so the quote you get on the phone makes sense.

Dumpster Rental Cost in Norton, MA: What Drives It

Why we quote by phone

Dumpster rental pricing depends on the dumpster size, the type of debris, the weight going to the disposal facility, the rental duration and the delivery location, plus any extra pickups or swap-outs. We provide transparent flat-rate pricing whenever possible, with delivery, pickup and disposal costs explained upfront and no hidden charges or surprise fees.

We quote by phone rather than post a price list because the things that decide the number — what is going in, how heavy it is and how far the truck runs — change from job to job. A 15 yard of carpet in Mansfield and a 10 yard of broken patio in Rehoboth are different jobs at the scale and on the road. Call (508) 952-9763 with the address and the material for a flat quote. We accept most major credit and debit cards, and payment is typically completed when the rental is scheduled, to secure your delivery date.

What a flat rate covers

A flat-rate quote typically includes delivery of the dumpster, pickup, disposal fees within the included weight limit, and the standard rental period. That is the whole job for most customers. The rest of this guide is about the few things that can change it — and how to keep them from changing it.

The biggest cost inside any flat rate is disposal. Massachusetts law says solid waste may only go to a place approved by the state (M.G.L. c. 111 §150A), and MassDEP wants every load of construction and demolition waste to go to a handling facility that meets its minimum performance standard for pulling out recyclable material. Different facilities take different materials at different rates, so the material decides the disposal cost. Whenever possible we work with local recycling facilities so metal, concrete, asphalt, cardboard, clean wood and yard waste can be recycled.

The things that move it

Size and weight. Each dumpster includes a weight allowance based on its size and the debris type — approximately 1–2 tons on a 10 yard, 2–3 on a 15, 3–4 on a 20, 4–5 on a 30 and 5–6 on a 40. If your debris goes over, an overage fee may apply based on the total weight at the disposal facility. Concrete, dirt, brick, asphalt, tile and shingles use it up fast, so for heavy loads we may recommend a smaller box or split loads.

Days. Most rentals include a standard 7-day rental period, and your quote confirms the days. Need longer? We can often extend for an additional daily or weekly fee, depending on dumpster availability. Finished early? Call and we can arrange an earlier pickup.

Distance. Delivery location is part of every quote. From our yard on Pleasant Street, approx. road miles are: Attleboro 2, Norton centre 3, North Attleborough 6, Plainville 8, Mansfield, Easton and Taunton 9, Raynham and Wrentham 11, Rehoboth and Foxborough 12, Seekonk and Berkley 14, Dighton 15, Norfolk 16, Sharon 17 and Middleborough 21. Approximate figures, but they explain why the longer runs can cost a little more.

Extra service. Additional pickups, swap-outs of a full box for an empty one, and an upgrade to a bigger size are all priced as part of the quote.

Banned items cost money

Massachusetts bans a long list of materials from disposal, and the ban reaches the hauler as well as the customer (310 CMR 19.017). MassDEP inspects loads at disposal facilities, says there is no acceptable level of banned material in a load, and tells haulers they may charge service fees or surcharges on loads that do not comply. A single mattress or box spring is enough to fail a load. So a sofa bed, a pile of old clothes or a fridge tossed in at the end can cost more than the box did.

Keep these out: mattresses and box springs, textiles, large appliances, TVs and monitors with picture tubes, car batteries, whole tires, leaves and yard waste mixed into a junk load, and our own no list — paint and solvents, oils and automotive fluids, fuel, hazardous chemicals, propane tanks and gas cylinders, medical waste and asbestos. The what-goes-in guide says where each one goes instead.

What the do-it-yourself options cost

For a small job, a town drop-off may do. For anything bigger, the limits add up:

OptionPublished charge or limitNotes
Norton Highway Department drop-off (call 508-285-0239)2nd and 4th Saturday, 8:30–11:30 a.m.: mattresses $50 each and box springs $50 each, large appliances $5, appliances with Freon $15, car tires $7, truck tires $25, auto batteries $2, scrap metal $10–$20 a truckloadListed items only; TVs and monitors $20–$40, laptops and printers $10
Norton Highway Department curbsideListed large items on Mondays, $10 additional pickup chargeCall ahead to book
Norton yard waste drop-off, West Hodges StreetCars free, pickup trucks $2, commercial vehicles $10Grass, leaves and brush only; 2nd and 4th Saturdays in spring and fall
Raynham Transfer StationConstruction debris $20 per cubic yard residentialRaynham residents only
Berkley Transfer StationConstruction material $80 a full pickup or trailer; roofing, concrete, asphalt or tile $150Household only, Wednesdays
Seekonk Bulky Waste Day$30 a visitNo construction or demolition debris; "NOT intended to be an alternative to getting a dumpster"

Every do-it-yourself trip is a covered load. Massachusetts law requires a load of rubbish or debris to be "fully and adequately covered", with fines of $50 to $200 (M.G.L. c. 85 § 36), and Norton bans letting material drop from a vehicle onto a public way (§135-9). Add the drive, the drop-off days and the per-item fees, and past a handful of trips one roll-off usually wins on money and on weekends.

Town permits and notices worth knowing

None of these change our flat rate, but they can add to the cost of a job. In Norton we found no permit for a roll-off on a private driveway, and the Select Board permit for using a street (Bylaw §135-7) states no fee. In Attleboro, occupying a sidewalk or street costs $150 for up to three days and $20 a day after (§16-3.2), and the Fire Department lists a $10 annual permit per location for residential dumpsters over 6 yards (§6-5). Seekonk's Board of Health lists a $25 temporary dumpster permit. Easton requires a permit for each temporary dumpster but publishes no fee amount that we found. On a state highway there is no permit path at all.

Two more costs on bigger jobs. Asbestos removal needs a MassDEP notification filed by the licensed abatement contractor ten working days before work starts, at $100 per notification. A demolition or construction notice (AQ 06) costs $100 as well, but residential buildings with fewer than 20 units are exempt from it — though an asbestos survey is still required before any demolition or renovation (310 CMR 7.15).

Dumpster or junk removal, and getting a quote

For anything beyond a couple of pickup loads, a container you load yourself is usually the better value, because you are paying for the box rather than the labor. For a single couch or appliance, or a cleanout with nobody to lift, our junk removal service may suit you better: our team handles all loading, hauling and disposal, priced on debris volume, labor and material type. Call (508) 952-9763 — the phone is answered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We offer same-day and next-day delivery throughout Norton and surrounding communities when availability allows; call early in the day for the best chance of same-day.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to rent a dumpster in Norton?

We quote every job by phone, because the price depends on the dumpster size, the type of debris, the weight, the rental duration and the delivery location. We provide flat-rate pricing whenever possible, with delivery, pickup and disposal explained upfront and no hidden charges.

What is included in a flat rate?

Delivery and pickup, disposal fees within the included weight allowance, and the standard 7-day rental period. Going over the weight allowance, keeping the box longer, or extra pickups and swaps are what can add to it.

Does a Norton street permit cost extra?

The Norton bylaw that requires written Select Board permission to use a street for rubbish or building material (135-7) states no fee. In Attleboro, occupying a street or sidewalk costs $150 for up to three days and $20 a day after.

Does it cost more outside Norton?

Delivery location is part of the quote, so the longer runs can cost a little more: Sharon is approx. 17 road miles from our yard and Middleborough approx. 21. Permit rules and fees also change from town to town.
