Local knowledge
Getting our bearings in Dighton
Knowing a city properly is the difference between covering it and showing up with the right box.
- Taunton South Purchase — the Town's history says Dighton was originally part of Taunton and was incorporated in 1712.
- Port of entry — Dighton was made a port of entry in 1789, the Town says.
- Transfer Station — 865 Tremont Street, North Dighton; residential use only, no household trash or curbside bags, $30 sticker.
- No remodel debris there — cement blocks, bricks, blacktop, rugs, carpeting, sheetrock and roofing material are unacceptable at the Transfer Station.
What comes out of Dighton properties
Roofs in 10s and 20s, yard and brush clean-ups in 15s and 20s, remodels in 20s, estate clean-outs in 30s, construction and demolition in 30s and 40s, and a 10 or 15 for concrete, brick and dirt — heavy loads are limited to the smaller boxes. Bricks, sheetrock, carpet and roofing are exactly what the Transfer Station refuses. MassDEP bans asphalt pavement, brick and concrete, metal, wood (from landfills), clean drywall, mattresses and textiles (since 1 November 2022), whole tires, large appliances, TV and monitor picture tubes and lead-acid batteries from disposal (310 CMR 19.017), so mixed construction loads go to a C&D handling facility that sorts them. MassDEP says even one mattress can fail a load — tell us before you load a mattress or an appliance.

Permits, placement and who may haul in Dighton
Who may haul — the rule that matters: Massachusetts requires a Board of Health permit to haul refuse through a town's streets (M.G.L. c.111 §31A). Dighton's Board of Health fee schedule has no rubbish-hauler line we could find, and we found no Board of Health dumpster regulation or exclusive franchise. We're licensed and insured.
In the street: General Bylaws Art. VII §5 says no one may place or leave building material, barrels, boxes, rubbish or any obstruction within a street or on a sidewalk without a written permit from the Selectmen or those with authority over streets, and the Board may require an agreement to indemnify the Town; Art. VII §1 also requires a written licence from the Selectmen to obstruct a sidewalk or street. No fee is stated. A driveway is the simple spot.
Dumping: placing waste, refuse, boxes or other matter on any street, park or common is barred, with a first-offense fine of $100 to $500 (Art. VII §1A).
Knocking something down: Massachusetts requires an asbestos survey by an asbestos inspector before demolition or renovation work (310 CMR 7.15(4)), and asbestos removal needs a MassDEP notice filed ten working days before work starts by the licensed abatement contractor. MassDEP's construction/demolition notice (AQ 06) does not apply to residential buildings with fewer than 20 units. Asbestos never goes in our containers — tell us if the survey finds any.

How it works
Booking a dumpster in Dighton
Booking a container here takes one phone call and about five minutes.
Step 1: Call and tell us the job
One short conversation. We ask the location, what you are clearing — a cleanout, a renovation, a roof, a yard, a job site — roughly how much there is, and how much room the driveway or lot gives us.
Step 2: We size it and quote it flat
You get a flat-rate quote whenever possible that covers delivery, pickup, disposal, the standard rental period and an included weight allowance. If a smaller box does the job we will say so. If it is concrete, shingles or dirt, we say up front that weight decides the size.
Step 3: Delivered where you want it
The driver sets the container on the driveway, lot or job site where you asked, on a flat, stable surface rather than the lawn. Often same-day or next-day, when availability allows. You do not need to be home.
Step 4: Load it on your schedule
Keep it level with the top edge or below and keep the banned items out — paint and solvents, oils and fuel, chemicals, batteries, tires, propane tanks and gas cylinders, medical waste, asbestos, mattresses and textiles, and fridges or other large appliances. Need more time or a swap mid-job? One call.
Step 5: We haul it and dispose of it right
The load is covered and goes to an approved facility, with metal, concrete, asphalt, clean wood and yard waste recycled through Massachusetts facilities whenever possible. You get your driveway back the way you left it.
