Local knowledge

Getting our bearings in Rehoboth

Knowing a city properly is the difference between covering it and showing up with the right box.

  • Transfer Station — at the corner of Route 118 and Martin Street, with a $60 sticker and a punch card; no construction material.
  • No Town trash pickup — the Town points residents to private contractors for curbside trash and recycling.
  • Board of Health Dumpster Policy — the Board publishes a signed Dumpster Policy. It is a scanned document we could not read, so this page states none of its terms.
  • Rubbish haulers — the Board of Health lists a rubbish hauler fee of $100 per truck and publishes a list of approved haulers.

What comes out of Rehoboth properties

Yard and brush clean-ups in 15s and 20s, roofs in 10s and 20s, remodels in 20s, estate clean-outs in 30s, construction and demolition in 30s and 40s, and a 10 or 15 for concrete, brick and dirt — heavy loads are limited to the smaller boxes. Decks, sheetrock, insulation and renovation debris are what the Transfer Station turns away. MassDEP bans asphalt pavement, brick and concrete, metal, wood (from landfills), clean drywall, mattresses and textiles (since 1 November 2022), whole tires, large appliances, TV and monitor picture tubes and lead-acid batteries from disposal (310 CMR 19.017), so mixed construction loads go to a C&D handling facility that sorts them. MassDEP says even one mattress can fail a load — tell us before you load a mattress or an appliance.

Permits, placement and who may haul in Rehoboth

Who may haul — the rule that matters: every Massachusetts Board of Health permits refuse haulers (M.G.L. c.111 §31A), and Rehoboth's Board lists a rubbish hauler fee of $100 per truck. We found no Town trash service and no exclusive franchise. We're licensed and insured.

The Dumpster Policy — read this first: Rehoboth's Board of Health publishes a Dumpster Policy. It is a scanned document we could not read, so we state none of its terms here. We check the Rehoboth Board of Health's rules before booking a container there. Board of Health: 508-252-3099.

Placement: we did not read Rehoboth's bylaws, so this page makes no claim about a street permit. A driveway or job site is the simple spot; ask the Town before using a street.

State highways: nothing may be placed on a MassDOT state highway without MassDOT's written permit (M.G.L. c.81 §21), and MassDOT has no dumpster or container permit type — so on a state highway the container goes on private property. Not every stretch of a numbered route is state-owned, so we check the exact address.

Knocking something down: Massachusetts requires an asbestos survey by an asbestos inspector before demolition or renovation work (310 CMR 7.15(4)), and asbestos removal needs a MassDEP notice filed ten working days before work starts by the licensed abatement contractor. MassDEP's construction/demolition notice (AQ 06) does not apply to residential buildings with fewer than 20 units. Asbestos never goes in our containers — tell us if the survey finds any.

How it works

Booking a dumpster in Rehoboth

Booking a container here takes one phone call and about five minutes.

  1. Step 1: Call and tell us the job

One short conversation. We ask the location, what you are clearing — a cleanout, a renovation, a roof, a yard, a job site — roughly how much there is, and how much room the driveway or lot gives us.

  2. Step 2: We size it and quote it flat

You get a flat-rate quote whenever possible that covers delivery, pickup, disposal, the standard rental period and an included weight allowance. If a smaller box does the job we will say so. If it is concrete, shingles or dirt, we say up front that weight decides the size.

  3. Step 3: Delivered where you want it

The driver sets the container on the driveway, lot or job site where you asked, on a flat, stable surface rather than the lawn. Often same-day or next-day, when availability allows. You do not need to be home.

  4. Step 4: Load it on your schedule

Keep it level with the top edge or below and keep the banned items out — paint and solvents, oils and fuel, chemicals, batteries, tires, propane tanks and gas cylinders, medical waste, asbestos, mattresses and textiles, and fridges or other large appliances. Need more time or a swap mid-job? One call.

  5. Step 5: We haul it and dispose of it right

The load is covered and goes to an approved facility, with metal, concrete, asphalt, clean wood and yard waste recycled through Massachusetts facilities whenever possible. You get your driveway back the way you left it.
