Roll-off dumpster rental in Taunton

Approx. 9 road miles from the yard, around 21 minutes.

Taunton is approx. 9 road miles east-southeast of the yard, around 21 minutes — same-day or next-day when availability allows; call early in the day for the best chance of same-day. It is a city of 59,408 at the 2020 Census and the seat of Bristol County.

The City says Taunton sits on the Taunton River, was founded in 1637 by members of the Plymouth Colony and is known as the Silver City. City curbside uses orange pay-as-you-throw bags for homes of up to four units, and the DPW's solid waste regulations exclude construction, demolition and remodeling debris. Roll-offs carry that work — and in Taunton the Board of Health's dumpster rules come first.

Local knowledge

Getting our bearings in Taunton

Knowing a city properly is the difference between covering it and showing up with the right box.

  • Silver City — the City's own page says Taunton is also known as the Silver City and is one of the oldest towns in the United States.
  • Bristol County seat — on the Taunton River; the City's site also has a page on the Old Colony History Museum.
  • Convenience Center — 330 East Britannia Street; mattresses are $35 a unit.
  • Household Hazardous Waste Day — the City holds one each August; check the City's Solid Waste page for the date.
  • No remodel debris at the curb — the DPW's 2023 solid waste regulations exclude construction, demolition and remodeling debris from curbside pickup.

What comes out of Taunton properties

Roofs in 10s and 20s, kitchens and baths in 20s, estate clean-outs and bigger remodels in 30s, commercial construction and major demolition in 40s, and a 10 or 15 for concrete, brick and dirt — heavy loads are limited to the smaller boxes. Every one of those boxes falls under the Board of Health's dumpster regulations, residential or not (§3I). MassDEP bans asphalt pavement, brick and concrete, metal, wood (from landfills), clean drywall, mattresses and textiles (since 1 November 2022), whole tires, large appliances, TV and monitor picture tubes and lead-acid batteries from disposal (310 CMR 19.017), so mixed construction loads go to a C&D handling facility that sorts them. MassDEP says even one mattress can fail a load — tell us before you load a mattress or an appliance.

Permits, placement and who may haul in Taunton

Who may haul — the rule that matters: the Board of Health's Dumpster Regulations (adopted 5 February 2019, effective 1 April 2019, under M.G.L. c.111 §§31A–31B) say no company or contractor may supply a dumpster service in the City without first getting a Waste Haulers Permit from the Board (§2A). The City's fee page lists it at $200 per truck, annual. We found no exclusive roll-off franchise. We're licensed and insured.

The dumpster rules — read these first: residential dumpsters must be enclosed by a 6-foot stockade fence or a 6-foot chain-link fence with privacy slats (§3A); every dumpster location must be approved by the Board of Health (§3B); lids must stay closed whenever the dumpster isn't in use (§3C); a dumpster must not block the view of traffic (§3E) and must carry the company's name and phone (§3H). The rules apply to all dumpsters in the City, residential, commercial or industrial (§3I), and we found no exemption for temporary roll-offs on their face. Fines run $25, $50 and $100, each day a separate offense, and the Board may grant variances. We check the Taunton Board of Health's rules before booking a container there.

In the street: City ordinance requires a permit before anyone deposits stones, bricks, timber or other materials on a street (§383-19A), with a deposit or bond (§383-21) and paid police details for the full length of the project (§383-25A). The ordinance doesn't name dumpsters.

State highways: nothing may be placed on a MassDOT state highway without MassDOT's written permit (M.G.L. c.81 §21), and MassDOT has no dumpster or container permit type — so on a state highway the container goes on private property. Not every stretch of a numbered route is state-owned, so we check the exact address.

Knocking something down: Massachusetts requires an asbestos survey by an asbestos inspector before demolition or renovation work (310 CMR 7.15(4)), and asbestos removal needs a MassDEP notice filed ten working days before work starts by the licensed abatement contractor. MassDEP's construction/demolition notice (AQ 06) does not apply to residential buildings with fewer than 20 units. Asbestos never goes in our containers — tell us if the survey finds any.

How it works

Booking a dumpster in Taunton

Booking a container here takes one phone call and about five minutes.

  1. Step 1: Call and tell us the job

One short conversation. We ask the location, what you are clearing — a cleanout, a renovation, a roof, a yard, a job site — roughly how much there is, and how much room the driveway or lot gives us.

  2. Step 2: We size it and quote it flat

You get a flat-rate quote whenever possible that covers delivery, pickup, disposal, the standard rental period and an included weight allowance. If a smaller box does the job we will say so. If it is concrete, shingles or dirt, we say up front that weight decides the size.

  3. Step 3: Delivered where you want it

The driver sets the container on the driveway, lot or job site where you asked, on a flat, stable surface rather than the lawn. Often same-day or next-day, when availability allows. You do not need to be home.

  4. Step 4: Load it on your schedule

Keep it level with the top edge or below and keep the banned items out — paint and solvents, oils and fuel, chemicals, batteries, tires, propane tanks and gas cylinders, medical waste, asbestos, mattresses and textiles, and fridges or other large appliances. Need more time or a swap mid-job? One call.

  5. Step 5: We haul it and dispose of it right

The load is covered and goes to an approved facility, with metal, concrete, asphalt, clean wood and yard waste recycled through Massachusetts facilities whenever possible. You get your driveway back the way you left it.

Can I put a roll-off at my house in Taunton?

Taunton's 2019 Board of Health Dumpster Regulations apply to all dumpsters, residential ones included: the location must be approved by the Board, residential dumpsters must be enclosed by a 6-foot fence, and lids must stay closed when not in use (Sec. 3A to 3C).
