The yard is at 50 Pleasant St in the Town of Norton, Bristol County, on a town road just off Route 123 (Old Colony Rd) and close to the Attleboro line. The town center is approx. 3 road miles away, around 6 minutes.

Norton is where the trucks start. The US Census geocoder puts 50 Pleasant St inside the Town of Norton, Bristol County. Pleasant St here is a town-accepted local road, and MassDOT's Route 123 (Old Colony Rd) runs just past it. Delivery is same-day or next-day across town when availability allows — call early in the day for the best chance of same-day.

Norton is a town of 19,202 at the 2020 Census. We found no Town trash contract, transfer station or pay-as-you-throw program: the Town's recycling sheet lists private companies for residential trash, so households hire their own. The Highway Department takes set items for a fee on recycling Saturdays and picks up some large items at the curb, but a kitchen, a roof or a whole-house clean-out is roll-off work.

Local knowledge

Getting our bearings in Norton

Knowing a city properly is the difference between covering it and showing up with the right box.

  • The yard is in Norton — the Census geocoder places 50 Pleasant St in the Town of Norton, Bristol County. Pleasant St is a town road; Route 123 (Old Colony Rd) nearby is a MassDOT state highway, and the Attleboro line is close by.
  • No Town trash service found — no Town contract, transfer station or pay-as-you-throw; the Town's recycling sheet points residents to private companies.
  • Recycling Saturdays — the Highway Department takes mattresses and box springs ($50 each), appliances, tires, TVs and monitors, scrap metal and batteries for set fees on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month, 8:30 to 11:30 a.m., and picks up listed large items at the curb on Mondays for an extra $10 (508-285-0239).
  • Yard waste drop-off — grass, leaves and brush go to West Hodges St at the powerlines on the 2nd and 4th Saturday, 8:30 to 11:30 a.m., April to June, October and November; free for cars, $2 for pickups, $10 for commercial vehicles.
  • No paint or chemicals at the Town drop-off — the Town's sheet sends paint, pesticides, gasoline and asbestos to private firms. None of them go in our containers.
  • Mansfield's roots — Mansfield's town history says that when it became a district in 1770, Norton had to give it part of the school money already assessed.

What comes out of Norton properties

Roofing jobs in 10s and 20s, garage clean-outs and flooring in 15s, remodels, landscaping jobs and larger home clean-outs in 20s, estate clean-outs and bigger remodels in 30s, construction, demolition and commercial jobs in 30s and 40s, and a 10 or 15 for concrete, dirt and other heavy material — heavy loads are limited to the smaller boxes. Keep everything level with or below the top edge: an overfilled container can't be moved safely or legally. Tearing a building down in Norton? Board of Health Reg. Ch. 13 wants the disposal site named to the Board before demolition, the debris removed within 15 days of finishing and a signed bill of lading from the disposal site within five days of removal — tell us when you book.

Massachusetts decides what can't be thrown away. MassDEP's waste bans (310 CMR 19.017) cover asphalt pavement, brick and concrete, metal, wood (from landfills), clean gypsum wallboard, mattresses, box springs and textiles (since 1 November 2022), whole tires, large appliances, TV and monitor picture tubes, lead-acid batteries, leaves and yard waste, and recyclable paper, cardboard and containers. Mixed construction loads go to a C&D handling facility that meets MassDEP's minimum performance standard, so banned materials can be pulled out and recycled; MassDEP says even one mattress can fail a load, so tell us before you load one. Asphalt shingles without asbestos are not on the ban list. No paint, solvents, oils, fuel, hazardous chemicals, propane tanks, gas cylinders, batteries, medical waste or asbestos.

Permits, placement and who may haul in Norton

Who may haul — the rule that matters: in Massachusetts the local Board of Health permits anyone hauling refuse through a town's streets (M.G.L. c.111 §31A). Norton's Board of Health Reg. Ch. 11 requires a Board licence for each vehicle carrying refuse over Norton's public ways, renewed every year and expiring December 31; the application includes a certificate of at least $1,000,000 liability insurance with workers' compensation and motor vehicle insurance and a written pledge to follow the MassDEP waste bans (§11.1), and licensed haulers report tonnage quarterly (§11.3). §11.4 says any company providing dumpsters in Norton must mark each one with its name, phone number and a unique ID number, keep dumpsters tightly closed, secured and leak-proof, and leave no refuse on the ground. We found no Town trash contract or exclusive franchise. We're licensed and insured.

On your driveway: we found no Norton permit or time limit for a roll-off on your own driveway in the bylaws or Board of Health regulations. Driveway first: give us clear placement instructions and you don't need to be home for the drop-off, and plywood boards under the wheels give a driveway extra protection.

In the street: General Bylaw §135-7 says anyone building, repairing or taking down a building who wants to use part of a public way for rubbish or building material needs written permission from the Select Board first, on condition that the spot is lit from sunset to sunrise, kept railed or guarded, the way is put back as it was and the Town is indemnified. The bylaw states no fee or time limit and does not name dumpsters. §135-8 bars leaving anything that obstructs travel on a street or sidewalk, or leaving it more than 24 hours after the Town or the police order it moved. Select Board office: Town Hall, 72 East Main St, 508-285-0200.

State highways: Route 140 and parts of Route 123 in Norton are MassDOT state highways. Nothing may be placed on a state highway without MassDOT's written permit (M.G.L. c.81 §21), and MassDOT has no dumpster or container permit type — so beside them the container goes on private property. Route 123 alternates between state and town stretches here, so we check the exact address.

Disposal and covered loads: solid waste may only go to a site approved by MassDEP (M.G.L. c.111 §150A), and loads of rubbish or debris must be fully and adequately covered on the road (M.G.L. c.85 §36). Norton's bylaw also bars letting material drop from a vehicle onto a public way (§135-9).

Knocking something down: Massachusetts requires an asbestos survey by an asbestos inspector before demolition or renovation work (310 CMR 7.15(4)), and asbestos removal needs a MassDEP notice filed ten working days ahead by the licensed abatement contractor. MassDEP's construction/demolition notice (AQ 06) does not apply to residential buildings with fewer than 20 units. Before a Norton demolition, Board of Health Reg. Ch. 13 also asks for a licensed pest control contractor's written statement that the building has been treated and rodent- and insect-free for 10 days. Asbestos never goes in our containers — tell us if the survey finds any.

How it works

Booking a dumpster in Norton

Booking a container here takes one phone call and about five minutes.

  1. Step 1: Call and tell us the job

One short conversation. We ask the location, what you are clearing — a cleanout, a renovation, a roof, a yard, a job site — roughly how much there is, and how much room the driveway or lot gives us.

  2. Step 2: We size it and quote it flat

You get a flat-rate quote whenever possible that covers delivery, pickup, disposal, the standard rental period and an included weight allowance. If a smaller box does the job we will say so. If it is concrete, shingles or dirt, we say up front that weight decides the size.

  3. Step 3: Delivered where you want it

The driver sets the container on the driveway, lot or job site where you asked, on a flat, stable surface rather than the lawn. Often same-day or next-day, when availability allows. You do not need to be home.

  4. Step 4: Load it on your schedule

Keep it level with the top edge or below and keep the banned items out — paint and solvents, oils and fuel, chemicals, batteries, tires, propane tanks and gas cylinders, medical waste, asbestos, mattresses and textiles, and fridges or other large appliances. Need more time or a swap mid-job? One call.

  5. Step 5: We haul it and dispose of it right

The load is covered and goes to an approved facility, with metal, concrete, asphalt, clean wood and yard waste recycled through Massachusetts facilities whenever possible. You get your driveway back the way you left it.

Local answers

Dumpster rental in Norton — common questions

How fast can you deliver in Norton?

Same-day or next-day across town when availability allows. Call (508) 952-9763 early in the day for the best chance of same-day. The phone is answered 24/7.

Is your yard in Norton?

Yes. The US Census geocoder puts 50 Pleasant St inside the Town of Norton, Bristol County, just off Route 123 and close to the Attleboro line.

Do I need a permit for a dumpster in Norton?

We found no Norton permit or time limit for a roll-off on your own driveway. Using part of a public street for rubbish or building material during building work needs written permission from the Select Board first, with lights at night, a railing or guard, and the road left as it was (General Bylaw Sec. 135-7).

Does the Town of Norton pick up trash or remodel debris?

We found no Town trash contract or transfer station; residents hire private haulers. The Highway Department takes set items for a fee on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month and picks up listed large items on Mondays for an extra charge, but a remodel or clean-out goes in a roll-off.

How much does a dumpster cost in Norton?

It depends on the size, the type of debris, the rental length, the disposal weight and the delivery address. We give transparent flat-rate pricing whenever possible, with delivery, pickup and disposal explained upfront. Call (508) 952-9763 for a quote.
